On March 8th of every year, the world celebrates International Women’s Day, yet this year, Sahrawi women continue to suffer under the hands of the Moroccan occupation forces.

The plight of Sahrawi women extends beyond the effects of unemployment and poverty, as they are subjected to repression, especially women human rights defenders. The Moroccan occupation forces systematically violate their civil and political rights, such as the right to freedom of travel, movement, and security. Additionally, economic and social rights are also denied due to the continued policy of systematic exclusion.

On this occasion of International Women’s Day, Freedomsun Defenders Organization congratulates all women, particularly Sahrawi women, and reaffirms its unwavering support for their political and human rights struggle. This struggle is an integral part of the larger struggle for the freedom and right to self-determination of the Sahrawi people, just like any other people in the world.

Freedomsun Defenders Organization calls upon the international community to protect Sahrawi women from the persecution inflicted upon them by the Moroccan occupation forces. The daily repression, lynching, beating, and systematic insult to their dignity are part of the crimes committed against them with impunity.
